PLEASE HELP!! Please show steps if possible! THANK YOU

Part C A sample of NaOH (sodium hydroxide) contains a small amount of Na2CO3 (sodium carbonate). For titration to the phenolphthalein endpoint, 0.200 g of this sample requires 23.98 mL of 0.100 MHCl. An additional 0.700 mL of 0.100 M HCl is required to reach the methyl orange endpoint. What is the percentage of Na2 CO3 by mass in the sample? Express your answer to three significant figures and include the appropriate units A Percentage of Na2CO3 Value Units Submit Hints My Answers Give Up Review Part

Explanation / Answer

Methyl organe is suitabel for strong acid HCl and weak base Na2CO3 titration

2HCl + Na2CO3 ---> 2NaCl + CO2 + H2O

HCl moles required for titration with Na2CO3( methyl oragne) is M x V = 0.1 x ( 0.7/1000) = 7 x 10^-5

Na2CO3 moles = HCl moles/2 = 3.5 x 10^-5

Na2CO3 mass = moles x molar mass = 3.5 x 10^-5 x 106 = 0.00371 g

% of Na2CO3 = 100 x ( Na2CO3 mass) / sample mass = 100 x 0.00371 /0.2 = 1.86 %
