Question

From the early Egyptians to the Code Talkers of World War II to present day Advance Encryption Standard, we have a long history of trying to make it impossible to read messages if you are not the intended recipient.

1. Discuss the history of cryptography, making sure you point out some of the more significant milestones. Close out by describing the latest encryption standard recommended by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

2. Have we reached the ultimate in encryption? Why or why not?

Explanation / Answer

Solution:

1)

Encryption was first used in the year AD 1467, and it was introduced by Leon Battista Alberti.

Basically, that was the polyalphabetic substitution.

After that Leon Battista Alberti. was known as the father of western cryptography.

At that time the encryption used to be simple

but then comes world war which changed everything about cryptography, the enigma encryption was so complicated that it was impossible to crack with human mind and calculations, hence the mechanical machine was introduced by Alan Turing.

The latest encryption programs are Blockchain technology.

2)

Considering the machines ability to compute and able to process number of instructions the encryption standards also needs to improve which proves that we haven't reached the ultimate in encryption and never will as the machines keep on improving.

I hope this helps if you find any problem. Please comment below. Don't forget to give a thumbs up if you liked it. :)
