Explanation / Answer

Biological definition of energy is ATP molecules. But in reality, you should think of energy as bonds. It requires energy to break bonds, and therefore bonds have stored energy. Bonds is also why fats store more energy gram for gram than glucose molecules. Fats have long hydrocarbon chains, with many CH bonds, and this gives it more stored energy than glucose.

Regarding your question, our body readily uses glucose to create ATP, the usable energy for cells, fats are stored in case your glycogen (small reserves of glucose) runs out. I think the most important thing here is looking at the amount of carbohydrates/sugars are in the drinks. the orange juice has a significantly greater amount, so I'd say the OJ. I'm not sure of the other ingredients listed in the "Energy Drink", however the sodium wouldn't provide energy, it would add to charge differences across cell membranes, which would help with conducting electrical currents in your body, so maybe you would be able to process information better. However, that is unrelated to energy.

6 sentences or less? I'll try less.

The OJ contains a greater amount of the macromolecule carbohydrates. Sugars fall under carbs, and the sugar that is readily used for energy production in our cells is glucose. The OJ likely contains sucrose, which in our digestive system breaks down in fructose and, you guessed it, GLUCOSE! The glucose enters our blood stream and is eventually carried to our cells where it would enter the cell (maybe through carrier proteins, maybe active transport, it varies). Once in the cell, there are some different process that are involved in turning glucose into ATP (I have not learned this yet, lol i'm learning it this week haha).
