We the living being are living in the lap of mother nature, who is providing us with all the necessary things for existence. The nature has created various ecosystems, which caters to the basis needs of such as food, shelter, water, etc to each and every living organism (from ant to elephant) on the plant. Over a period of time there has been many changes in the the ecosystem due to various changes that have been created by we humans and also by some force of nature. Due to these changes mother nature have reacted by creating many natural calamities. These calamities have made very adverse effect on life and property. The infrastructure that we have reacted for our living have been destroyed. More important, many lives of humans and other living creatures have been taken during such actions by the nature.

There is no other way to avert such disaster, but to fight against the same and to help humans and other living beings to save life at first and than to make life to normal.

Hospitals are the place of first aid, first shelter to the injured ones. As we are aware we do not have any control over the natural calamities, we need to be ready with a plan for what to do during the calamity and how to response once the calamity has occurred. Here are some of the actions points: -

1. During the natural calamities life hurricane, the number of casualties are much more than during the normal days. Thus the Doctors and other hospital staff would not be adequate to give attention to the patients. This generally happens during the natural calamities and patient needs to wait for long time before he/she is attended, which sometimes proves to be fatal. Thus hospital needs to be give basic first aid training to college students and other voluntary participant citizens. These citizens can provide first aid to the casualties and decrease the chance of fatales and can give immediate relief to the patients.

2. Whenever there are calamities, it do not differentiate any body or any area. It is many time seen that hospitals and medical centers are damaged during the calamities. Cities facing the calamity is left with no infrastructure to give treatment to these patient. Thus it is advisable to have some basic infrastructure like beds and first aid kits at government buildings, colleges, schools etc. This will create an secondary plan, in case the hospital building is damaged or is fully occupied.

3. The natural calamities like earthquake, hurricane, floods are not so frequent in most part of the world. Thus it is obvious that the difficulties that citizens have faced during previous such calamities will be forgotten in some years. Thus its necessary to refresh the learnings from the past happenings on a regular interval of time and to be prepared to respond to such happenings in the future. Thus basic preparedness like where to run, how to hide, what basic things to be kept on hand, needs to be refreshed, reinstituted at regular frequency. Schools, colleges and other public gatherings can be used to give such knowledge to masses.
