Supply Chain Management Strategy (20 marks) Decide which strategy your group will use in order to obtain the goods and services you require for the snow chains from outside sources, and explain why you have made that choice of strategy. Also, in your appendix, you should include a list of REAL companies, properly referenced (NOT just websites) who could be possible members of your supply chain. Include possible suppliers, transportation providers, warehousing facilities, etc. that you believe would be necessary. 10 marks for your writeup and 10 marks for your appendix. (Make sure that all of the answers are related to snow chain)

Explanation / Answer

Snow chains are fittings on tyres , that help increase the friction when driving through snow/ ice. The raw material for the production and the maintainence services support needs to be obtained from external sources.

For the raw material such as steel and oil for greasing it needs to be outsoured. Having a long term supplier relationship will help ensure quality , also maintaing a supplier portfolio with Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers will be effective.

For services, of the manufacturing and testing equipment the snow chain manufacturer needs to engage with maintainence contract of the equipmnet provider.

For Eg: The companies that can be engaged with involve: SAIL, for steel in India( considering that the business is set up in India); for equipment L& T along with their maintainence contract can be engaged in.
