(5 points) Assume the service level is 90%. Describehow a 90% Type 1 service level business is different from a 90% Type 2 service level business. Which one is known as fill rate Type 1 or Type 2? C. Short Answer

Explanation / Answer

Answer to question# 18)

The five principles of LEAN are:

Thus minimizing cost is not one of its principle

Hence answer to this question is answer choice B

.

Answer to question# 19)

The criteria for production deals with working capital. It aims at reducing completion time and customer waiting time. it aims at using the facilities optimally , and minimzing the inventory. At this point, the scheduling process cannot completely relate to the production cost. production cost is a vast term that incldues cost of machinery , raw material and other utilities as well. That is the reason why minimizing total production cost is not one of the criteria for determining proper scheduling cost.

Hence the correct answer for this question is answer option E

.

Answer to question# c)

Service level tells us about the performance level

Suppose if 100 demands come up, and if the service level is 90% , this implies 90 out of the 100 demands must be met in a given time interaval.

Type I Service level : it is denoted by alpha. it is event oriented process. it measures the probability that demand of all customers is met. It is also known as ready rate.

Type II service level : it is denoted by Beta. this is quality oriented measure. It tells us practically that what proporiton of demands can be filled in a time interval. It does not deal with all customers but a proportion of them at a time.

Type II service level is called Fill rate , and Type I service level is called Ready rate as per their nature of functioning.
