Question
Two long, perpendicular wires carry currents of I1 = I2 = 16 A and are separated by d = 20 cm, as illustrated in the figure below. What is the magnitude of the magnetic field at the midpoint of the line joining the wires?
Please show me what formula you used and work it out tep by step please!
Two long, perpendicular wires carry currents of I1 = I2 = 16 A and are separated by d = 20 cm, as illustrated in the figure below. What is the magnitude of the magnetic field at the midpoint of the line joining the wires?Explanation / Answer
the fields will point perpindicular so B = sqrt(B1^2 + B2^2)
but B1 = B2 since I1 = I2
B = sqrt(2)*4*pi*10^(-7)*16/(2*pi*.1)=4.5E-5 T
