Question
A converging lens, which has a focal length equal to 9.4 cm, is separated by 35.6 cm from a second lens. The second lens is a diverging lens that has a focal length equal to -16.8 cm. An object is 18.8 cm to the left of the first lens. (a) Find the position of the final image using both a ray diagram and the thin-lens equation to the right of the object (b) Is the final image real or virtual? Is the final image upright or inverted? (c) What is the overall lateral magnification?
This question posted more then 6 time still i got wrong answer
Explanation / Answer
formula 1/ f = 1/v- 1/u
focal lenght, f= 9.4cm; u= -18.8
v =| u|f| / |u|-f =176.72 / (|18.8|-9.4)
v=18.8cm
So the image inverted will be at a distance 15cm from the first
Image is upright and real.
