Question

The picture reflects actul masses taken during exercise. There is a meter stick on a balance falcrum with clamps and masses attached. Fom left to right a 20g clamp holding a 100g mass at 10 cm. The clamp the attaches to falcrum has a mass of 13g it is balanced at 61.7cm. The center mass of the meter stick is at 51cm and the meter stick itself weighs 97g. The 21g clamp on the end holds a mass of 199g and is located at 95cm, and wants the moment of rotation on the end at 100cm.

Explanation / Answer

moment of inertia = mr^2

I = (0.12*0.1^2)+(0.013*0.617^2)+(0.097*0.51^2)+(0.22*0.95^2)

I = 0.0012+0.0049+0.025+0.198

I = 0.229 kg m^2
