Question
Explain why the conductivity of .150 M KBr is about twice that of 0.075 KBr. Thanks!!
Map p sapling leaming this question was written by Gen Chem Lab Coordinator at Western Washington University Explain why the conductivity of 0.150 M KBr(aq) is about twice that of 0.075 M KBr(aq). There are twice as many ions in solution in 0.150 M KBr than there are in 0.075 M KBr. The 0.150 M KBr consists of K2 and Br22 ions in solution whereas the 0.075 M KBr only has K and Br ions in solution. Since the 0.150 M KBr is twice as concetrated as 0.075 M KBr, each ion is allowed to carry twice as much electrical charge in solution. The nature of the ions in solution for 0.150 M KBr are different than those in the 0.075 M KBr and the ions in the 0.150 M KBr carry the charge better. KBr is a weak electrolyte and ionizes twice as much in the 0.150 M KBr as it does in the 0.075 M KBrExplanation / Answer
your option is correct only
0.15 M KBr solution having twice the number of ions than 0.075 M KBr
more the number of ions more will be the conductivity.
