Explain why the conductivity of 0.095 M K2S04(aq) is greater than that of 0.095 M KF(aq) Electrolytes with a SO4 anion will always have a higher conductivity when compared to any other electrolyte. Thus the K2S04 will always have a higher conductivity than KF as long as they are at the same concentration lon size can play a big part in electrical conductivity. Some or all of the ions in KF are much smaller than the ions in K2SO4, thus the ions in K2SO4 are better able to conduct the electricity The total ion concentration of the K2S04 is greater than the KF. In addition some or all of the ions in K2S04 have higher charge than those of KF. Both of these factors increase the conductivity of the K2S04 solution O O O Conductivity increases when electrolytes react with water. K2SO4 reacts much more readily with the water than KF, thus the greater reactivity of K2S04 will lead to a much greater conductivity in solution O The KF is a weak electrolyte while the K2SO4 is a strong electrolyte. Thus the K2SO4 fully ionizes in solution and will have a higher conductivity than the KF.Explanation / Answer
The KF react with water very less than the K2So4
KFdissolve in water to form K+ and F- but F- combine with H+ to form Hf number of ions decreases.
K2So4 ------> 2K+ + SO42-
K2SO4 is strong electrolyte .It is completely ionisable to more number of ions.
Answer. Conductivity increases when electrolytes react with water. K2SO4 reacts much more readily with the water than KF, thus the greater reactivity of K2SO4 will lead to a much greater conductivity in solution.
