Question

Suppose that the mass which produced a period of 1.00 seconds was 200.0 grams What was the springs constant The spring's constant was N m (Bonus) What is the maximum acceleration of the above mas>> (period I 00 second and mass 200 0 grams) if the initial displacement is 5 00 cm and the mass is released from test0 The mass's maximum acceleration u What is the minimum acceleration of the above mass (period 1 00 seconds and mass 200.0 grams) if the initial displacement is 5 00 cm and the mass is released from rest"1 The masses minimum acceleration a m/s^1.

Explanation / Answer

Time period of spring T = 2pi(m/k)1/2 where 'm' is mass of block attached to spring and 'k' is spring constant

k = m*4*(3.14)2 = 0.2*4*(3.14)2

Spring constant(k) = 7.88768 N/m

If the mass is released from rest i.e. u=0 m/s with initial displacement is 5 cm

s = ut+1/2at2

s = 1/2 at2 ,

maximum acceleration, a = (2s/t2) = 0.1 m/s2

minimum acceleration is 0 m/s2 when dispalcement is zero i.e. comes to its original position
