Question
The photograph below shows a pill bug. Pill bugs are small animals frequently found wooded areas near decomposing organic material. Describe some parts of an experiment to determine the preference of pill bugs for light or darkness. In your answer, be sure to: state a hypothesis for this experiment identify the independent variable in the experiment identify two conditions that should be kept the same in all experimental setups state one example of experimental data that would support the hypothesis: Pill bugs prefer the dark. Plants respond to their environment in many different ways. Design an experiment to test the effects of one environmental factor, chosen from the list below, on plant growth. Acidity of precipitation Temperature Amount of water In your answer, be sure to: identify the environmental factor you chose state one hypothesis the experiment would test state how the control group would be treated differently from the experimental group state two factors that must be kept the same in both the experimental and control groups identify the independent variable in the experimentExplanation / Answer

Pillbugs are wingless, oval or slightly elongated isopods about 1/2 inch long. They are slow-moving, crawling creatures, and they are cold-blooded, which means their body temperature is regulated by the surrounding environment. These bugs are although common, they cannot be seen during the day, as they prefer dark, moist places. They are found under rocks, bricks, trash, decaying vegetation, etc. They emerge to wander around only during nights.
In order to prove their preference for darkness rather than light, place few bugs in light and few in dark place. The bugs that are actively wandering show that they are active in that environment.
Hypothesis: If we put pill bugs in both dark and sunny places , then they will be more active in the dark place.
Objective: The purpose of this experiment is too see how pill bugs react to the dark and to the light.
Observation: If we put pill bugs in dark places and sunny places, then they will like the dark places.
Are Pill bugs more active in the dark or the light?
Ans: Pill bugs are more active or comfortable in the dark.

Plants grow well in an environment that has adequate amount of water, optimum temperature, and required amount of acidity, rather than in the environments that lack these.
