Question

For this week’s discussion, post a 2- to 3-paragraph analysis in which you select a non-mechanical technology, such as regulation and analyze how it is used to control or govern human behavior. Support your argument with evidence from the learning resources, using appropriate APA standards. Be sure to address the following in your initial post: 1.Describe the technology and how it is used to control human behavior. 2.What goals is the organization trying to achieve through the technology? 3.What behavior is the technology attempting to control or change? 4.What is the ideal behavior the technology is trying to produce? 5.Are there any side effects for the technology? Does it have a negative effect on people’s attitudes, motivations, or behavior?

Explanation / Answer

One non mechanical technology for behaviour governance is lean practise. This comprises of 5 steps ( DMAIC) Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control.

1.Describe the technology and how it is used to control human behavior.

Technology is a non mechanical approach and is purely based on application on real time. Lean is elimination of waste and is generally seen in production and service sector. It can be also used for governing human behavior through a clear cut implementation plan.

Lean refers to elimination waste or non value added activities. It is applicable for human behaviour as well. Many humans will un necessarily spend on conflict, making gossips and creating fuzz between each other. Thus based on 5 steps of orientation such behavioural issues can be eliminated and the whole process can be optimised.

Define: Clearly define the behavioural aspects, reporting systems, communication guidance etc to all employees through official confirmation channels.

Measure: Once it is defined it has to be measured through evaluation programs like value chain analysis and performance tracking ( quality and quantity wise)

Analyse: Then analyse the result obtained from the review system to understand the results.

Improve: Every process would be having rooms for improvement. Get feed back from employee for 360 degree analysis and then suggest recommendation for improvement

Control: It’s a continuous improvement process. Thus stabilisation of activity and standardisation is very important.

2.What goals is the organization trying to achieve through the technology?

Major goals are:

3.What behavior is the technology attempting to control or change?

Many behavioural issues like un wanted discussions, creating confusions, communication incapability, skill development through training, productivity tracker and performance achievement, employee behaviour with colleagues and to their sub-ordinates, social commitment of employees etc.

4.What is the ideal behavior the technology is trying to produce?

In real case there is no ideal condition. It is said like there well be always scope of improvement in all process. Thus continuous improvement activities are the prime objective of all governance program. In an ideal environment all employees will work with full satisfaction and has good co-ordination to realise the team effort and sharing knowledge. Thus helps in organisation to achieve their objectives on right time and on right track.

.Are there any side effects for the technology?

If the tool is not properly implemented it may create fuzz in the process and may results in employee dissatisfaction. Insecurity on uncertainity in understanding process may results in failure or collapse of system

Does it have a negative effect on people’s attitudes, motivations, or behavior?

No, It doesn’t have negative effect if it is implemented properly and timely updates has to be there by understanding the real time situations.
