How does an international assignment assist in developing a cadre of international operators?
They provide the adequate training to the workers to deal with the foreign environment in terms of their organization culture, language, and understanding their work style including the corporate language. Those workforces are specialising in their task which they have to perform. There is a pre-departure training being provided to them to ensure they can work freely and doesn’t feel isolated. So that they can understand the value and belief system and their culture which depends on work profile and company type. Their target is to train them not only for particular task but also to understand their language, gestures to manage the diversity by providing cross cultural training which will facilitates the efficiency and effectiveness in their work pattern. This training ensures the comfortable level of the candidate to understand the country pattern wherein he is moving and whether it is suitable for his living. This also make him aware of the business laws exists their and its context. This will help him in adjustment.
Example – Like if I wants to work in Canada, I would try to know the culture there, their working style, timings, cost of living, earning in hand, accommodation expenses, food options, weather, working culture and working hours, my KRA etc.
Why is it necessary to have such a cadre of workers?
It is important to understand completely the country you are going to work in. As the business context differs from one country to another country depending upon the culture and background, it become important to have a pre-departure training to understand your suitability and fitness for that job and occupation. This ensures you took a right decision and help you in making adjustment in diversified team of people working there. This is beneficial for the companies as they will be getting the diversified skilful people from different countries having the innovative style of working which will create and make the happening atmosphere in work environment.
What should the main objectives be for a multinational with regard to its compensation policies?
The main objectives should be to retain the best talent and to ensure the motivation level of each employee increases. Therefore, compensation policies to made so smartly that it is based on experience, profession and performance based. Some amount to be fixed and some depending on work performance which will induce employee to work efficiently towards high performance and incentives goals.
