Why is research an important part of problem solving in the workplace?

What are some examples of situations in the workplace when research is necessary?

Describe the ways that current technologies make research easier for workplace writers, as well as the ways that these technologies make research more difficult. You may base your answers on real-life experiences and observations if you wish.

Explanation / Answer

Research is one of the most important part in problem solving. It helps a clear and better picture about the conclusion we wish to reach to.

Eg. for an analysis for our client say Wallmart, having researched about the retail Industry, it's trends, new upcomings and technologies in this segment help us to focus to serve our client in a better and much positive way so we can give better outputs and results

Eg. If my client has a problem regarding it's falling share price, an industry research can help me know if the same problem is being faced by it's other peer companies in this segment. Accordingly a better conclusion can be made regarding the same process

Current technologies have in some way made research easier

Artificial Intelligence has reduced many of the manual tasks to get our result base easily
Eg. If I want to know the particular industry of a company, AI can help do that with 3 levels of deep dive classification

We have databases from where we can get the required information directly.

Eg. CapitalIQ where I can get all the financials requried, all companies of a sector( listed), all deals pertaining to a sector done etc.

Mergermarket for all deals related info

Factiva for all new updates etc.

However techologies have even made research difficult for those who do not have access, working knowledge of these databases

Also with AI, the human element of decision making gets reduced so appropriate results as required are not found
