Question
For this discussion period please address the following question. Does religion provide believers with consolations not available to the nontheist (person who does not believe in God/the Divine)? For example, is there a difference between the ways theists and nontheists deal with injustices and the suffering of the innocent? Is there a difference between the ways they experience guilt and forgiveness? What are the strengths and weaknesses of each perspective? What are the differences between the way Rick Warren and Daniel Dennett view the world and our place in it?
Explanation / Answer
I BELIEVE THE COMFORT RECEIVED BY THE NONTHEIST PERSON AR ATHIEST COMFORT ON THEIR OWN AND STILL GET THE SAME SATISFACTION, IT DEPENDS ON THE PERSONS BELIEFS AND WHAT THEY HAVE FAITH IT, IT DEPENDS ON HOW THE PERSON DEALS WITH IT AND WHAT THEY THINK OF IT
ATHIEST BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE NOT UNDER ANYONE's CONTROL AND THAT there IS NO HIGHER POWER AND, THEY THINK THAT THE INJUSTICE IS BECAUSE OF THEIR REACTIONS, AND THE BELIEVERS THINK THAT IT IS OFTEN THIER LIFE WRITTEN BY A HIGHER POWER
BELIEVERS THINK THAT GOD IS PUNISHING THEM FOR PAST LIFE OR ANYTHING, ATHIEST THINK THAT WHATEVER HAPPENS HAPPENS
THEY TEND TO BE MORE CHILL AND RELAXED THAN OTHER
ATHIEST - STRENGTHS- STRONG WILLED, RELAXED,
WEAKNESS- NOT A POPULAR OPINION, OFTEN LOOKED DOWN UPON BY OTHERS
BELIEVERS - STRENGTHS- THEY HAVE BETTER HOPES,
WEAKNESS- SCARED OF GOD , THEY DO STUFF OR THINGS IN THE NAME OF RELIGION
