Leaders must accept failure to be successful, and by being honest and open minded with the department the trust is gained allowing boundaries to be pushed. My director showed a great example of this when the organization took on a new electronic medical record system. As a director, she attended management level classes and felt uncomfortable afterwards and not confident in being able to be a “super user” for the department. She announced her fear in not being comfortable and then registered to attend more classes, but with the department this time to get an understanding of how everyone is doing during the trainings. An innovative culture starts by looking how a leader is towards an organization that is trying to innovate. The same is true about culture-it all beings with the behavior and actions of the leader.

I agree with the statement that leaders must be courageous to accept failure and become open minded to find innovative solutions and succeed. A good leader also finds opportunities of learning from the failure and it is incorporated in his or her new approach. It develops trust and people start following the leader. Slowly and progressively, the leader builds an organizational culture as per the vision and employees embrace it. In the given example also, a leader does not feel confident, then she accepts it and goes for more classes to learn different perspectives. It is the symbol of the good and brave leadership with strong commitment.
