Explanation / Answer
The team mentioned here are highly dysfunctional as inferred from the case study. In every team, each team member should be open about what's in their mind. Lack of information and clarity often causes conflicts and personal grudges. Like in this case, Ron and Sarah have their own perceptions about the scenario they are in. Ron assumes that his teammates look down upon him, which may or may not be true. He will never find the truth or the root cause until he speaks about it. This kind of mindset is stopping him to open up in front of his team, and the team might be losing on some valuable insights from Ron regarding the budget. On the other hand Sarah, she believes the meeting is a waste of time. If she thinks that the team doesn't have sufficient information to create a realistic budget right now, she must have a basis for such conclusion. She should put forward those points in the meeting such that other can get a different prospective on this topic.
This ethical issues will finally sum up to effect the efficiency of the team. The understanding between the teammates will tarnish and eventually lead to sour relationship. Keeping a healthy and interactive environment is very important for productivity of the team. If such issues continue the team will fall apart sooner or later.
