Leisure refers to engaging in activities which the individual like to involve not for any monetary benefits, but for the inner happiness. Leisure does play a role in the personality development of an individual. Engaging in leisure activities like playing football, playing music, singing and so on help the person to divert the energy to positive things which can lead to a decrease the likelihood of a person to engage in delinquent behavior. Leisure activities differ throughout the lifespan. Leisure activities are generally seen to be at the apex when a child is born to the time he gets busy with academic activities. The leisure activities do not diminish and continue to spurt out till adolescence phase. However, when a person reaches the adulthood phase, with the change in the responsibilities and the new role, there is hardly very little time for leisure. Subsequently, when the person reaches old age, traces of leisure activities are seen. Identity symbol refers to the symbolic representation a person have on you. These symbols can sometimes predict the leisure activities that the person engages in. The physical symbol is one of the most powerful symbolic representations.
