How do you think different cultural standards impact work environments? Provide at least two examples.

Give an example of business cultural standard used in another country (not the United States). How do you think that standard would impact your work environment?

Explanation / Answer

Business organizations today possess huge diversity and this has given rise to a lot of cultural differences in the workplace and therefore cultural standards are playing an important role because cultural standards are nothing but norms based on which a person evaluate the behavior of a different person living in the same culture. Different cultural standards actually impact work environment and based on the role of the manager the impact can be positive or negative for the organization. If the manager uses the cultural differences for the betterment of the organization then it is better for the organization or else this may impact the organizational values. For example in my last organization I was working in a insurance organization where there were employees from USA, Sweden, India and Pakistan but the cultural difference was very much accepted and used for the betterment of the organization.

Business culture in India is somewhat like the US because they believe in diversity and cultural standards too and I have witnessed this working with Indian colleagues quite a lot in my professional career. They believe more on skills and level of quality in work rather than anything else because they believe that there is nothing except work that can make a man successful and I believe even the US should believe this and work on it.
