Question

1.1 Discuss one point that you agree with and why using a critical level of analysis. on the following text.

I believe that any ethical organization culture is based on the values and principles that company’s founders and executives created in the begging of its operations. Principles and values play the key role when deciding what type of company will it be what products it will produce, if it is going to work with the aim to benefit customers or just to make profit? In Ohio case, “The evidence is going to show they knew what they were saying was not true and they did it to increase sales”. It clarifies that companies were working for profit with no regard to customers. “Companies were dishonest with doctors about their painkillers' risks. He said they marketed heavily to general practitioners, who may not have a particular specialty in that area.” They only tried to find an excuse for their actions blaming customers for “not being specialty in that area”; instead of take a responsibility for producing addictive painkillers. From what I learned in Business Law class, companies that whose product was found opioid addictive, not only performed unethical business, but also may carry a criminal responsibility for their actions.

Explanation / Answer

Principles and values play the key role when deciding; what type of company will it be; what products it will produce if it is going to work with the aim to benefit customers or just to make a profit as a company acts based on its; mission, vision and values. The critical level of analysis substantiates this claim as in this Ohio case the sole aim of the company was to make a profit; without considering the risks to the health of the customers. For example, another example is the company Walmart; having the mission statement; “Saving people money so they can live better.” Thus with this mission, Wal-Mart indeed has a supply of cheap goods.
