Question

Explain in your own words what is meant by the equation lim x-> 2 f (x) = 5 Is it possible for this statement to be true and yet f(2) = 3? Explain.

Explanation / Answer

yes , lim x-> 2 f (x) = 5 means that if you approach x=2 then f(x) seems to have a value which is equal to 5. but y(2) gives the value exactly at that point. lim x-> 2 f (x) = 5 means f(1.9999999999999999)=f(2.0000....................1)=4.9999999999999999999 means as you inch closer to x=2 value of f(x) converges to 5 which may not be equal to value exactly ta that point
