Question

PLEASE READ FIRST. I don't need the answers for these. I just need to know what type of problems they are, i.e. central Limitation Theorem, etc...
We are doing two chapters with a lot of material and I'm getting confused as to what formulas to use.
The chapters are: Normal Probability Distributions and Estimates and Sample Sizes. If you can give any tips as to what I should look for in the problems to determine how to solve, I'd would REALLY appreciate it. Thank you! Find the indicated probability. 6) The incomes of trainees at a local mill are normally distributed with a mean of s1100 and a standard deviation of s 150. at percentage of trainees earn less than $900 a month? A) 35.31% B) 9.18% C) 40.82% D) 90.82%

Explanation / Answer

6) This is a normal distribution problem

Here you can calculate the z vaue and the probability can be calculated with the help of standard normal distribution table.

7 and 8) Central Limit Theorem is used here. the difference here is that, in problem 6, we were dealing with the whole population, but in problems 7 and 8, we are using the population parameters to find the probability with a sampling distribution. Here also, the procedure is same, but z score is calculated by using a different formula, which takes into account the sample size as well.
