Question
what do you think of this idea? do you agree of disagree? please answer in complete sentences.
I think that a hypothesis can give you knowledge. Even though it is hard to know if something is true or not, I do think that thru a hypothesis we can gain knowledge. This is because a hypothesis makes you take a deeper look at what you think. Not only do you have a specific question about something but also, you go through a process to actually get evidence and find out the truth by using the scientific method. Eventhough their is skepticism, I do not think skepticism works on everything. Though the video shows examples that may make you think differently, without a doubt I know we can all have knowledge and once we have evidence, the skepticism goes away. According to Bertrand Russell, "We are entitled to reject an instinctive belief when we discover it is inconsistent with other instinctive beliefs." He believes doubt remains about with common sense believes however, they are still reasonable enough to count as knowledge. Contrarily, G.E. Moore says you don't have to prove anything. You can have doubts about arguments but not about basic common sense. His example of this is, "Look at your hands, Hands are external objects, therefore external objects are real." This means we are real. Looking at different views really makes you think of what we can consider real and unreal however, we can not live being skeptical about absolutely everything. Like Moore said, we can be skeptical about arguments and this is where we make hypothesis to discover the truth about subjects of interest.
Explanation / Answer
I agree with the idea of not considering the skepticism for all the objects that we consider to prove a hypothesis. Some of the basic objects that we see in the real can be comfortably believed so that the arguments into the topic in consideration using these objects can be used in skepticism so that the truth can be found and can be proven so that the society can be benefited. Trying to prove almost everything is not necessary and it is a needless waste of time.
