If the pol A of E.coli is mutated such thatit lacks 3' - 5' activity the following effects are possible on acell or on the organism as a whole: The role of pol A's 3' - 5' exonuclease activity isto remove any mismatched bases from the 3' end. So if mismatched bases are left and so the mistakes in the DNAcannot be rectified.
