Question
Light rays from a small defect in a glass are reflected by the surface of the glass as shown in the graph where theta_c = 40.0 degree. Is there any point above the glass at which a viewer would not be able to see the defect? The figure on the right shows light goes through an optical cable. Determine theta_max, assuming n = 1.0, n_1 = 1.5 and n_2 = 1.33. Draw a ray diagram and locate the image for the object shown in the figure. (a) Light from a helium-neon laser (630 nm) is incident on a pair of slits. In the interference pattern on a screen 1.5 m from the slits, the bright fringes are separated by 1.35 cm. What is the slit separation? (b) A second light source, when incident on the same pair of the slits, produces an interference pattern on the same screen with a separation of 1.02 cm between adjacent bright fringes at the center of the pattern. What is the wavelength of the second source?Explanation / Answer
no there is no such point as the light is coming out of the glass it is clear that the observer will be able to
see the defect.
