DNA fingerprinting is a molecular technique that was developed by Alec Jeffreys which is now widely used to identify an individual from the sample of DNA by looking at the unique patterns of DNA. We know that every cell contain DNA and the genome every organism share 99.9 % similarities and the rest is unique sequences (ie, about 3 million base pairs are different among 2 people unless they are identical twins). So, in DNA fingerprinting, the patterns of this unique sequences that are developed after restriction cleavage and subsequent Gel Electrophoresis are identified to know the relationships between individuals.
Since, an individual has recieved half of his DNA from father and half from mother his DNA sequences will be similar to them. So, here in this question, while checking the fingerprint patterns of all 6 children, there is a similarity in DNA patterns of Child 1 and Child 5 with that of their parents.
All the DNA bands shown in both child 1 and child 5 are present in either their mother or father, which clearly proves that they are their children.
