Ques 4.
IVF is known as IN VITRO FERTILIZATION --
THERE ARE 4 STEPS IN THIS PROCESS-
Before and during the in vitro fertilization process, ovaries are checked by the doctor and at what time the egg release. ovaries should be able to produce eggs, and hormone levels should be normal.
Egg retrieval : through the upper vaginal wall a very thin needle is passed. fluid is removed from the follicles with the use of vaginal ultrasound by gentle suction.
the oocyte (egg) is retrieved from the follicular fluid after aspiration of follicle. now place the egg in a glass plate which has nutrient media and transfer it to incubator.
Fertilization
now the egg is fertilized. A sample of sperm is taken from your partner o any donor, then the egg is mixed with the most active sperm in an inacubator or can directly inject the sperm into the egg. Then in an incubator egg and sperm are placed and whether a healthy embryo develops or not is checked.
Embryo transfer and Implantation
examine the embryos to find the healthiest one to be transferred.place a speculum in female reproductive organ to transfer the embryo and it is transferred through a small plastic tube placed in the cervix into the uterine cavity. now the process is completed.
