Question
1. Explain how you can have a constant speed without a constant velocity. 2. Aaron wants to ride a carousel. He wants to ride the fastest horse on the carousel. The carousel takes 1 minute 43 s to make one complete rotation. The horse on the outside track is 8.55 m away from the center. The horse on the inside track is 6.82 m. Find the speed of each horse. Which horse should Aaron ride? 3. Aaron wants to ride a carousel. He wants to ride the horse on the carousel with the largest (magnitude) centripetal acceleration. The carousel takes 1 minute 43 s to make one complete rotation. The horse on the outside track is 8.55 m away from the center. The horse on the inside track is 6.82 m. Find the centripetal acceleration of each horse. Which horse should Aaron ride? 4. Aaron wants to ride a carousel with his brother. Aaron (100 kg) rides the horse on the inside track. Aaron's brother (79.6 kg) rides the horse on the outside. The carousel takes 1 minute 43s to make one complete rotation. The horse on the outside track is 8.55 m away from the center. The horse on the inside track is 6.82 m. Find the centripetal force on Aaron and on his brother.Explanation / Answer

Anything moving in a circular path with constant speed has to have varying velocity, by the definition of velocity. The direction it is moving is always changing, so its velocity is always changing.
You can't be moving in a circular path with constant speed and not have a changing velocity. It's just simply impossible, by the definition of velocity.
