Question
I’m trying to calculate the speed of a block on top of a ramp (frictionless surface). It goes from a flat surface, up a ramp (1.2m), and then it levels off. I have the initial speed of (5.99m/s), the mass (2.3kg), the GPE at the top of the ramp (27.048KJ). I’m trying to calculate the speed of a block on top of a ramp (frictionless surface). It goes from a flat surface, up a ramp (1.2m), and then it levels off. I have the initial speed of (5.99m/s), the mass (2.3kg), the GPE at the top of the ramp (27.048KJ).Explanation / Answer
Apply conservation of energy
K.E + P.E = constant
0.5*2.3*5.992 = 27.048+ 0.5*2.3*V2
V = 3.515 m/s
