I’m confused on how to read this diagram in relation to questions 3 and 4. I know that the K-feldspar percentage range in granite is: 0% to 60% (the 0% is shown where the pink potassium feldspar region pinches shut, and the 63% is shown where the pink region is thickets [83%-20%=63%]) as that is what is written in the instructions.
plagioclase. Granite can contain from 18%plagioclase to Up to Quartz content varies from- 90 to 90 in granite. Pyroxene K-feldspar Gabbro has exactly the same mineralogic composition as the rock named 3. % amphibole may occur in granite. (does, doesn't) occur in granite. (does, doesn't) occur in gabbro. 4· 1% of silicate minerals)Explanation / Answer
3_Ans=> 18% Plagioclase to 20% in Granite.
Upto 1% (Trace amount) of amphibole in Granite.
Quartz content 20% to 60% Granite.
Pyroxene doesn't occur in Granite.
K-Feldspar doesn't occur in Gabbro.
Gabbro same mineralogical composition as Basalt.
% Silica minerals= 30% of minerals are Silicates. Silicates make up 95% of rocks on the earth.
