Defiance Drake, having dealt with the deadly Cubarb parasite catches her breath and then heads to the bridge to take control of the freighter. The hatch leading to the bridge has a wheel mechanism to secure it (see picture in the assignment folder). To open the hatch, she grabs hold of the wheel, with her hands on opposite sides, and rotates the wheel by exerting a force toward the top of the door on one side, while exerting the same force towards the bottom of the door on the opposite side. Is there a net force applied on the wheel? Is there a net torque applied? Explain how you know.

Net force = 0

Reason : there is equal and opposite force on the object hence the net force becomes 0

Net Torque :

There is net torque because the same force on the two opposite ends produce torque in same direction and hence a net torque which produce the rotating effect
