Question

A pinhole camera has a small circular aperture of diameter D. Light from distant objects passes through the aperture into anotherwise dark box. The aperture in the pinhole camera has adiameter D = 0.600 mm. Two point sources of light ofwavelength 500 nm are at a distance L from the hole. Theseparation between the sources is 2.80 cm and they are justresolved by the camera. What is the value of L?

I worked through this problem and got 27.54 meters ,but I dontthink this is correct .   Can someone please help me andshow me how to do this.
Thank you

Explanation / Answer

    d = 0.60 mm        = ........ m     = 500 nm     sin = 1.22 ( / d)     = .........o     tan = y / L            = 2.80x 10-2 m / L      L = ........
