Question
Base level changes and sedimentation: What is base level change? What are ways of changing base level? How do these changes impact sedimentation and erosion? Is a drop in base level do to uplift or eustatic sea level change like to cause erosion or sedimentation?? why? How does basin subsidence effect sedimentation? How does the Hawaiian hot spot help us re-create how the Pacific plate ha moved over time? What are the characteristics of life? ? why?is carbon so abundant in living things? Explain what this has to do with the number of electrons in the outer shell. What are the nucleotides that make up DNA? Which nucleotides form bonds with each other in DNA? How is RNA different from DNA? In eukaryotes, how does the number of chromosomes in in sex cells differ 'from the number of chromosomes in other cells, and? why?does it have to be this way? What does bilateral symmetry tell us about an organism's lifestyle?Explanation / Answer
16. (a) Base level is the lowest level to which erosion by running water can take place.
change in base level can be influenced by (1) climatic conditions and(2) tectonic activity.
These changes cause either a positive or negative change in base level.
(b) Eustatic change is when the sea level changes due to an alteration in the volume of wate in the oceans or alternatively ,a change in the shape of an ocean basin and hence a change is the amount of water the sea can hold.Eustatic change is always a global effect.
(c) Subsidence creating accommodation space for intilling by sediments .The subside results from the thinning of under lying crust.
17.A hot spot is fed by regions deep with in the Earth's mantle from which heat rinses through the process of convention.
The floor of the pacific ocean is divided into several plates. The largest one ,the pacific plate is moving north west relative to that plate holds North America, and relative hot spots coming up through the mantle from below the plteson the surface of the earth, nothing can move along a striaght line, instead the plates rotate around a point on the surface. The pacific plate rotate around a point south of Australia.around Hawaii. The plate is moving 7 cm/year.
18. (1) Living Things are Composed of Cells.
(2) Living Things Have Different Levels of Organization.
(3) Living Things Use Energy.
(4) Living Things Respond To Their Environment.
(5) Living Things Grow.
(6)Living Things reproduce.
19.Because it is able to bond with itself so well, and form long chain, molecular compounds.Carbon is a pattern maker .It can link to itself, forming long resilient chains called polymers.it can also bond with upto four other atoms because of its electron arrangement.
20. There are 4 nucleotides that make up DNA. A=Adenine T=Thymine C=Cystosinence G=Guanine.
Adenine pairs with Thymine,Cystosine with Guanine.
21. DNA contains the sugar deoxyribose, while RNA cntain the sugar ribose.
(2) DNA is a double stranded molecule while RNA is a single stranded molecule.
22.A chromosome is a single ,long molecule of DNA.Humans inherit one set of chromosomes from their mother and a second set from their father to have a baby.
23.Most animals with radical symmetry have no right or left sides, only a top or bottom, these spices are usually marine organisms like jelly fish.
