Question
On the accompanying map, draw an arrow through each point, A-E, that represents the wind direction at that location. Remember that wind blows across the isobars from higher to lower pressure with a deflection to the right of its path. Also remember what direction the air rotates around a pressure system.
Find city D on the map above. Inspect the pressure map and answer the following question:
Which of the following would best describe the wind direction at that location?
Remember wind direction is reported according to ORIGIN of the wind...where it's coming from!
A. East
B. Northwest
C. Southeast
D. South
E. North
F. West
G. Northeast
H. Southwest

The City marked by D in the given map is definitely Denver.
According to the question the pressure trough and ridge in the area is Southwest and Northeast respectively. Therefore if we try to find out the direction of the wind flowing through the region, then it would be flowing from the North towards the trough and hence it moves along a counter clockwise direction along the south. Therefore the best direction which would describe the direction of wind at that particular place is Southeast. Hence the answer would be (C) Southeast.
