All P-class pumps share the following properties except (which one is False?)
A.All pump one or more of four ions B.All have a conserved sequence motif around the D residue that becomes transiently phosphorylated as part of a similar pump mechanism C.All the ions transported are pumped out of the cell D.All the ions transported are pumped against a concentration gradient E.All hydrolyze ATP for energy All P-class pumps share the following properties except (which one is False?)

Explanation / Answer

Answer :-

All the P class share all the above properties except (c) option.

a) All pump one or more of four ions :- For example, H+, Na+, K+, Ca2+

b) P type ATPases have many conserved motifs. These motifs present in cytoplasmic domains where they have a vital role in ATP hydrolysis and also transduction of this hydrolysis into changes in protein conformation.

C) P class Na+/ K+ ATPases pumps three Na+ out of the cell and two Ka+ into the cell per ATP hydrolysed. This is different in case of calcium. So there is no such property if p class pump that it have to pump out all the ions.

D) P class pump that transport various small molecules and ions against their concentration gradient.

E) P class pump hydrolyse ATP for energy so that it cab transport molecules across the membrane.
