The UAE has developed rapidly into a wealthy country. The economic progress makes opportunities for the adults to lead a high expectancy life. Rapid urbanization promotes age-specific mortality rates related to chronic diseases and cardiovascular diseases.The age-standardized mortality rates are much higher in cardiovascular disease when compared to cancer. 94% of adults are at risk. UAE is facing a big challenge in increases rates of non-communicable disease such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. It targeted to reduce the number of diabetic cases from 19% to 16%.
The most common cause of under-5 mortality rates is premature deaths and congenital defects. The mortality rate in 2012 is 7.80. In 2011, A TOTAL OF 114 being notified by an infectious disease. Out of these 85 were HIV positive cases, seven cases were leprosy, 10 of them affected with TB, 9 AIDS patient and 3 were Hepatitis B. Total notified cases is 10,213 in 2011.
In UAE the contraceptives are rarely covered by insurance. 4 in 10 married women of reproductive age use contraception.77% of maternal Death occurs in the Arab region. Reducing the unmet need for family planning help the government to achieve the goals of MDG-5 and to improve maternal health.
According to, WHO 2009 statistics, In UAE the density of physicians is 4960 per 17 density of population, and the density of nurse and midwife is 10,340 and the dentistry personnel is 850 per 3 density of population between 2000-2007. The number of beds in the non-private sector reached 4100 in 2002.
In UAE the health expenditure per capita is 1611USD. Health expenditure private is 1.01% of GDP. Health Expenditure of government is 2.64% of GDP. Total Expenditure is 3.64% of GDP.
The medical industry is planned for compulsory health insurance for employees in Emirates to close the gap between rich and poor. The UAE is taking all efforts to improve quality care and to operating patient-centered Model of care with the Highest quality.
