Of the seven characteristics of a high performing organization, the two characteristic that I consider as the most important are:

How are those two characteristics similar in nature?

The two characteristics are similar in nature as only an empowered employee will know how to efficiently function as a team member. He will know when to take charge of a situation and when to follow orders. The two characteristics are also similar as in an open and communicable environment it is possible to empower the employees.

How are those two characteristics different nature?

The difference in the two characteristic is in empowerment, giving the employees the confidence to work alone and take decision that are effective in the given situation alone whereas in the characteristic of relationship and communication it is required that the members do talk to each other and consider the opinions before arriving at a result.

Research on HPWOs is fairly extensive and shows organizations benefit over the long term with rising workplace productivity and salaries. Yet, what are the reasons management and labor do not adopt the characteristics of an HPWO?

The management and the labors are not able to adopt the characteristics of an HPWO as the characteristics require all individual to work and contribute at the same level. There cannot be under achiever or over – achiever in the organization. To make an organization HPWO, the team has to be on the same level. Another problem associated with the HPWO is that it requires a high level of trust among the employees and the management that is not easily attained.
