elaho river originates from the elaho glacier. as we can see that starting months of year january february and march has a low discharge . we know that river discharge having a source of water from rain water, ground water, precipitation, surface eun off and other tributeris.
in first three months elaho river has low discharge , these months are considered as a winter months . in winter temperature is low thats why all direct sources of elaho river like springs and glacies has been freeze out and because of low temperature evaporation process intensity also decreased. so resultant discharge of elaho river is also decreased in these months.
flow incresed in early springs becaouse in the springs faced a lot of rain thats why discahrge in elaho river has been increased.
high flows in last months, in BC summer are short but hotter , temperature reached aroud 30 c in the summer so because of temperature increase glacier and other springs and tributeries melted and flows into elaho river . and summer also faced rain, so these factors makes these months high flows season.
