Breath analyzer detects the blood alcohol level.

When breath analyzer takes the alcohol from alcoholic person, the alcohol is converted into acetic acid.

oxygen from air is converted in water. The two reactions combined gives redox reaction and hence there is potential corresponding to alcohol. Potenatial change measure the blood alcohol content.
