1.- The Velocity of Reaction Equation: V=k[S2O8]m[I-]n.
By dividing the equation of run 2 over run 3, where [I-] remains constant:
2.3x10-6/ 3.1x10-6 = [2M]m/[1M]m. (Given that both the constant k and the iodide concentration cancel)
0.7419 = 2m; m=ln(0.7419)/ln(2)= -0.43
Then, repeating the process when the persulfate concentration remains constant:
7x10-6/ 1.4x10-5 = [0.04M]n/[0.07M]n.
0.5429=0.5714n; n=ln(0.5429)/ln(0.5714)= 1.09
Thus, the Velocity equation is: V=k[S2O8]-0.43[I-]1.09.
Being the order of persulfate -0.43, order of iodide ion is 1.09 and the order of the reaction (the sum of those): 0.66
