Question

It's a warm summer day (23 degrees Celsius). You are outside and you have two identical blocks of snow with you (you kept them in the freezer for several months). You call the first block of snow, Block A. You call the second block of snow, Block B. Block A and Block B each has a mass of 22 kilograms. You smash block A on your driveway and spread the snow from block A onto your driveway until it forms a thin sheet of snow. You don't smash block B. Instead you leave block B at the end of your driveway in one solid block. Which snow will melt faster (the snow from A or B)? Explain your reasoning in 3 sentences or less.

Explanation / Answer

In my view Block A will mwlt faster and the reson behind it is the Hydrogen bondin.

The block B which is not smashed will hwve more H-bond as compared to Block A because it assembles with each other give rise to more H-bonding so the intermolecular between them is more so you need more time to melt Block B.

Where as Block A has less H-bonding and the intermolecular forcr between them is less so it will melt fast
