Question
You have two samples of water. Sample A has a mass of 500grams and sample B has a mass off 300 grams. They are heated over identical flames and then mixed. Consider the following: Experiment 1: sample A is heated for 5 minutes and B is heated for 3 minutes. Experiment 2: A is heated for 3 minutes and B for 5 minutes. Compared to the final temperature after mixing in experiment 1, would the final temp I experiment 2 be higher, lower, or the same? Explain your reasoning. You have two samples of water. m = 500 g of A
m = 300 g of B
Experiment 1: 5 mins A, B is 3 mins
Exp 2= A is heated 3 min, B is heated 5
The heat must be analyzed individually
Heat of A --> 5 mins + 3 min = 8 mins
Heat of B --> 3 mins + 5 mins = 8 mins
Each is heated the same
Since this is the SAME amterial (water), then you could say the final temperature of each is the same since they both were heated the same time, same temperature and have the same specific heat
