Question
Ammonia is the most important ingredient of most fertilizers. Attached is a diagram of a proposed
ammonia synthesis plant, which could save energy by operating on a ship, located in the ocean at a spot where there
is a large temperature gradient with ocean depth. The electrical power for this plant is generated by a turbine, which
is part of a heat engine. This heat engine used warm ocean water (from near the ocean's surface) as the hot
temperature bath, and cold ocean water (from deep below the surface) as the cold bath.
