Question
How many moles of Cl are present in each of the follow molar quantities?
1. 0.50 moles of POCl3
2. 1.40 moles CCl4
Determine the grams of sulfur present in each of the following
a. 2.41 x 10^22 SO3 molecules
b. 8.08 *10^16 Na2S2O3 molecules
Using the balanced chemical equation, calculate the number of moles of CO2 that can be obtained from 1.50 moles of the first reactant with an excess of the other reactant
1. 2C8H18 +5O2 -> 16CO2 + 18H2O
2. 2HCl + CaCO3 -> CaCl2 + CO2 + H2O
Any explanations to help would be marvelous :)
Explanation / Answer
1. 3*0.5 =1.5
2. 1.4*4 = 5.6
a) Mass = 2.41*10^22/(6.023*10^23)*32 = 1.284 gm
b) Mass = 8.08*10^16*2/(6.023*10^23)*32 = 0.00000858575 gm
1. We get 16 CO2 from 2 moles of first reactant
from 1.5 mole we will het 16/2*1.5 = 12
2. We get 1 CO2 from 2 moles of first reactant
1.5 mole HCl will give 0.75 mole CaCl2 and 0.75 mole CO2
