Question

Please help me complete this table!

You must use reference materials such as the CRC Handbook or an Aldrich catalog (or try Google to find online resources) to find the physical properties of each reagent. Several calculations must be performed to complete the rest of the Reagent Table. The Reagent Table page of the prelab is turned in to the instructor at the BEGINNING of each lab. Below, you can find a sample reagent table so you can practice the required calculations. You should be able to complete the missing data, as indicated by empty boxes. This box is for the Theoretical Yield (TY). It can be calculated by first determining which reagent is the limiting reagent. The TY Amount in this example should be calculated in both grams and ml. (for liquid products). Show your work here and include units in your calculations.

Explanation / Answer

1) mass = ( 2 x 1.56) = 3.12 gm , moles = 3.12/172 = 0.01814

2) 1.9/69 = 0.02754 moles

3) 3.6/166 = 0.02169

4) 10ml = 10gm = 10/18 = 0.555 moles

5) moles of 2 iodo benzne = 0.01814 ( from stochiometry in reaction)

     mass of comp = 0.01814 x 283 =5.1336 gm , vol = 5.1336/2.2 = 2.333 ml
