Question

Work on Incline To push a 56-kg crate up a frictionless incline angled at 20° to the horizontal, a worker exerts a force of 550 N parallel to the incline. The crate moves a distance of 2.1 m. What work is done on the crate by the worker? m/s Submit Answer Tries o/3 What work is done on the crate by the weight of the crate? (use 910 m/s-) Submit Answer Tries o/3 What work is done by the normal force exerted by the floor on the crate? Submit Answer Tries o/:3 What is the total work done on the crate? Submit Answer Tries o/a

Explanation / Answer

part(a)

work done by by the worker Wworker = F*s*cos0 = 550*2.1 = 1155 J

part(b)

angle between weight and displacement , theta = 110

work done by by the weight Wg = -m*g*cos110*s = 56*10*cos110*2.1 = -402.2 J <<----ANSWER

---------------------------------

perpenducular in to incline N - m*g*cos20 = 0

normal force N = m*g*cos20 = 56*10*cos20 = 526.23

part(c)

angle between normal force and displacement theta = 90

work done by normal force Wn = N*s*cos90 = 0   <<----ANSWER

total work done Wtotal = 1155 - 402.2 = 752.8 J <<------ANSWER
