Question
Is this a random error or a systematic error?
Someone is trying to measure the temperature of a solution, and then record the time at which the temp. measurement was taken. So, they read the thermometer and then look at the stopwatch to see at what time the solution was this temperature. There is a fraction of a second between when the measurement of the temperature is actually taken and when they look at the clock, so it is not exact. is this a random error, a systematic error, or a blunder / plain mistake and why?
Explanation / Answer
It's a blunder type of error because the error is occurring due to the obseververs faulty measurements. We can't say it as systematic or random error because the errors are not occurred due to fault in measuring device or there is no environmental factor to affect the measurements
