Question
In order to demonstrate positive thymic selection experimentally, researchers analyzed the thymocytes from normal H-2b mice, which have a deletion of the class II IE gene, and from H-2b mice in which the class II IA gene had been knocked out.
What MHC molecules would you find on antigen-presenting cells from the normal H- 2b mice?
What MHC molecules would you find on antigen-presenting cells from the IA knockout H-2b mice?
Would you expect to find CD4+ T cells, CD8+ T cells, or both in each type of mouse? Why?
Explanation / Answer
MHC II and or MHCI Molecules will be found on antigen presenting cells from normal H-2b mice.because presence of class I or II molecule is necessary for survival.and normal mice will express both molecule.this will express both CD4 and CD8 CELLS.
B. Only class I MHC will be found on knockout mice and will express CD4 cells.
C.In normal mice there will be both type of cells CD4 and CD8 Cells
There will be CD8+ Cells in knockout mice.
